I picked up lots of cosmetics, both high end and drugstore brands, while in Dubai last month and I’ve finally started using them. This lipstick from Max Factor was my first Max Factor lip product purchase. Actually when I think back, I wanted to purchase a Bourjois lipstick which was selling on the adjacent rack and realised that this one was an exact dupe. Plus, it was slightly cheaper and hence I bought this one.
So lets review the Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Pearl Maron 36, starting with what Max Factor has to say about the Colour Elixir Lipsticks :
The secret is in the 60% ‘Elixir’ treatment, which includes ingredients such as shea, avocado and aloe butters, as well as anti-oxidant white tea. This lipstick’s Elixir formula actively improves lip moisture to achieve a smoother surface in just one week.
The result is high pigment lip colour that glides on effortlessly for an even finish and improved vibrancy, for true lip glamour perfection.
Price : I payed in Dirhams but it converts to INR 600 approx.
Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick comes in a black case with the white branding font. The case looks smart and is safe to be tossed into your handbag without stressing. The texture of this lipstick is slightly creamy and frosty. The colour pigment is high and has shimmer in it. On my skin tone this lipstick is a red-pink with hints of coral. The tricky part is that the colour looks different under a flash, as you can see in the pictures below. If the dark shade of this lipstick scares you, just pat it onto your lips and finish with a lip brush. The shimmer in the lipsticks adds a nice dimension to the colour and does not feel gritty on lips.
Pro’s of Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick :
- Appropriately priced for the colour and formula, this lipstick will last me ages
- Gives deep colour with hint of shimmer that lasts upto 4 hours and leaves a pretty stain after wearing off
- Is fragrance free
Cons of Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick :
- Since the lipstick is highly pigmented, you must apply it with a lip brush or after using a lip liner
- Can be drying on the lips and settles into the lip lines so use a balm with it
- Colour is not long lasting, you will need to touch it up after 3-4 hours
To Splurge or Not to Splurge :
I will definitely suggest buying this one, the colour of this lipstick could be a close dupe to some high end lipsticks. The pricing and formula are great. Max Factor has counters in select WestSide and Hyper City in India so if you are planning to head there sometime, make sure to check out the Colour Elixir Lipsticks. Here is a chart of all the colours in the range.
p.s. Max Factor has recently changed the packaging of these lippies. These new ones are smokin’ hot to look at, I must grab new ones!!
Final Verdict :
Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick gets a 3/5 from me.
