All these anti-ageing cream commercials have got to me and I’ve been spending hours studying my facial skin for signs of ageing. Visible pores have always been an issue with me and I can pass the buck to my genetics here, given that both my parents face similar skin issues. However, under eye dark circles are a recent development and they have been giving me sleepless nights (pun intended) as well. Dark circles can occur due to a variety of reasons ranging from iron deficiency, poor eating habits, unhealthy lifestyle, stress and even genetics.
I have been a frequent visitor to the Biotique kiosk in the neighbouring mall due to my successful brush with two of their products which happen to be recent purchases, the Bio Almond Oil make up remover and the Henna Leaf Fresh Texture Shampoo & Conditioner. It was on one such recent trip that I enquired if they have eye creams in the Biotique range. The SA quickly removed three different eye creams namely, Bio Morning Nectar Lightening eye cream, Bio Almond Soothing & Nourishing eye cream and Bio Seaweed Revitalizing Anti-Fatigue eye gel. Since I’m dealing with dark circles so buying the Bio Morning Nectar Lightening seemed the best choice.
Today’s review is for the Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Flawless Lightening Eye Cream SPF 30 UVA/UVB. And here’s what Biotique has to say about this eye cream :
This soothing eye cream hydrates, tones, fades dark circles and deflates puffiness for a brighter, younger-looking gaze. Protects with SPF 30 UVA/UVB sunscreen.
Nectar Is the sweet fluid, the honey that flowering plants produce each day, used to sustain health, vitality and ageless beauty. Its nourishing and moisturizing properties help heal skin and promote healthy cell renewal.
Price : INR 199
Quantity : 25 gms.
If you have previously used Biotique products, you may be similar with the green-white packaging of theirs. This eye cream pot is no different. To access the cream, you have to open the cap and scoop the cream out with your finger. The cream is pearly white and light in texture. Once applied the cream takes about 10-15 minutes to get absorbed into the skin. The eye cream has a herbal, leaf kind of fragrance which fades post application.
While the instruction on the eye cream pot ask you to lightly pat the cream around your eye, I would advise you to take the tiniest quantity of this cream on the tip of your finger and massage into the eye contour. I must warn you that if the eye cream comes in contact with your eye, it will make your eyes burn and water. You must use this cream twice daily and can use it alone or beneath make up.
Pro’s of Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Flawless Lightening Eye Cream SPF 30 UVA/UVB :
- Easily available all over India or on online stores
- Light textured cream with a mild, herbal fragrance
- Hydrates and moisturises the delicate skin around the eyes
- Has built in SPF
Cons of Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Flawless Lightening Eye Cream SPF 30 UVA/UVB :
- Not available easily outside of India
- Un-inspiring Biotique packaging
- Lack of a dispenser can make using this eye cream unhygienic
- Stings the eye if it comes in contact with even lashes or the waterline
- Did nothing to lighten or fade my dark circles
To Splurge or Not to Splurge :
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, this was my first eye cream and the fact that it stings the eyes causing them to water was alarming to me. It also did nothing to fade away the dark circles which I assume to be my un-realastic expectation *sigh* but it certainly gets points for the sun protection and hydrating the delicate skin around the eyes. I will not be re-purchasing this cream and might look into the ones from LÓreal or other high end products.
Final Verdict :
Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Flawless Lightening Eye Cream SPF 30 UVA/UVB gets a 2.5/5 from me.
